Was Napoleon as great of a military leader/strategist as every has made him to be?
In essence yes, napoleon was an extraordinary strategist who conquered many of his opponents even though he had been out numbered in most of his battles. As most of his success came in the later career after the French Revolution he did manage to impact the rebuilding of the new nation of France. He did this through many of his victories that portrayed the fresh power of the French revolutionary armies. His many strategies he used during his many great campaigns are still used today to some extent. Like his corps d'armée strategy had a major code to it; each unit supports the next. This is used in every army since, so to help out and improve the odds. Another thing was his armies ability to be unpredictable and move in smaller groups of units. The armies of the 21 century use this tactic a lot. They travel in smaller groups so to be more affective and in some cases avoid detection. As he has managed to still affect the strategies of war today he is definitely with out question, one of the best if not the best military strategist in the world.
